Who is IFAGE?
The Institute for Faith and Gender Empowerment (IFAGE) envisions a society where men and women are equal and free from sexual and gender-based violence.
IFAGE is registered in Kenya as a faith based, non-governmental organization (NGO), working with grass-root organizations and faith communities to address sexual and gender-based violence in the Africa context, targeting men and women, faith leaders, and youth in order to end sexual and gender gender-based violence.
Our identity is to harness the potential of faith actors and gate-keepers in the African context to address violence against women and girls through change of mindsets and attitudes about equal worth/value and dignity for both women and men, and transforming of social gender norms including patriarchy which we believe is the root cause of gender-based violence.
We exist to promote equality and justice for women and girls by working with men, religious leaders, and youths in Kenya and across sub-Saharan Africa through capacity building, advocacy and mentorship.
We envision a world where both women and men are equal and free from sexual and gender-based violence. Our work aligns with the global sustainable development goal number five, to end all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls.
Our Core Values
Equality: We believe in equal worth and dignity for men and women in the society. We proclaim justice as a key element for fairness, peace, and reconciliation.
Inclusivity: We uphold dignity of all human beings regardless of gender, race, and color. We value each other’s contributions and hold the conviction that only from diverse backgrounds and divergent points of view can we find the best solutions.
Integrity: We recognize that how we do our work and how we collaborate with others is just as important as what we are seeking to accomplish.
Teamwork: We are invested in the success of others, we treat each other with respect and kindness, and we will work diligently to lift each other up.
Accountability: We believe in transparency and accountability in all activities we do.
